Road safety

With the increasing number of vehicles on the roads, road safety has become one of the major concerns of the countries around the globe. It applies to everyone who drives, cycles or even walks and the idea is to keep everyone out of harm`s way.

When it comes to road safety, cars and trucks are by far the most dangerous thing on the road. Motorbikes are also particularly dangerous to the rider because of the lack of protection. The safety factors can be boosted by using appropriate protective gear, driving responsibly and keeping the bike in good shape. Some of the road safety tips are as follows:

Don't use your mobile phone whilst driving: The use of cell phone on the road puts many lives in mortal danger and is very dangerous. Do not call or text while driving. Purchasing a hands free Bluetooth headset will solve calling problems.

Belt up in the back : It`s also important to wear a seat belt and to strap children into their car seats.

Don't drink and drive: Most likely accidents can happen if a driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Reports show that drunk driving causes over 13,000 deaths every year. While there are laws against drinking and driving, it still lies in the hands of the people to stop this problem.

Always adhere to speed limits: Road safety is just a matter of common sense and following the rules and laws already set out that every driver should be adhering to.

Don't drive if tired: Get a good night's sleep before long trips and pull over to rest if need be.

Maintenance your vehicle:  Most drivers do not regularly check their vehicles. In other cases, they do not perform routine inspection on the vehicle prior to using it. Failure to check the brake fluid, water for the radiator, and other components can result to devastating accidents.

Alertness:  Road safety means paying attention and being alert. Stop completely at stop signs, pay attention to the lights and keep an eye out for the unexpected.

Road safety is something we all need to consider when out and about. Be responsible when you are out and about, whether on foot or driving and take care. Being safe is everyone`s responsibility.
